BYD BATTERY-BOX · HIGH-VOLTAGE STORAGE
BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 2.56 – 2.56 kWh Battery Module
The BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 2.56 is an individual 2.56 kWh high-voltage expansion module rated at 102.4 V, featuring cobalt-free LFP chemistry and weighing 38 kg. It builds or extends compatible stacks with two to five HVS modules. The module cannot operate as a standalone solar battery or 230 V power supply.
Key specifications
Overview and system configuration
An individual HVS module lets an approved BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS system grow with energy demand. Patented connectors provide the module-to-module interface; a complete storage installation needs at least two modules, the matching BCU and an approved inverter.
Two, three, four and five HVS modules provide 5.12 / 7.68 / 10.24 / 12.80 kWh reference usable DC energy. Additional towers require approved BCU and inverter combinations. HVS 2.56 and HVM 2.76 belong to different product families and cannot be mixed in one tower.
IP55 and CAN/RS485 interfaces describe a properly assembled system. Qualified installers must commission the high-voltage equipment. Extensions require checking existing modules, state of charge, BCU revision and inverter compatibility.
Benefits and features
Thermally stable cells designed for long-term use.
Reduced internal wiring during tower assembly.
HVS towers with two to five compatible modules.
Via approved BCU and inverter interfaces.
Indoor or outdoor siting according to manual.
High DC voltage for appropriate hybrid inverters.
Shift solar generation for later use.
Backup only with matching equipment.
Technical highlights explained
HVS energy scales by module count
BYD HVS uses 2.56 kWh, 102.4 V modules. Two to five modules yield 5.12 / 7.68 / 10.24 / 12.80 kWh usable DC under manufacturer reference conditions.
BCU and generation compatibility
Every HVS stack needs the correct battery controller. Premium HVS modules are not identical to HVS+ or other families. Verify the current BCU generation and inverter compatibility list before expanding.
Continuous current and short peaks
BYD specifies 25 A maximum regular output and up to 50 A for 3 seconds. The older 5-second figure is not used. Actual power depends on stack voltage, BMS and inverter limits.
Solar, backup and off-grid use
HVS can support grid-connected, backup and off-grid projects when the selected inverter and protective architecture permit. The battery alone provides neither grid transfer nor a 230 V socket.
Installation conditions
BYD lists −10 to +50°C operation, IP55 and indoor/outdoor installation. Performance may be derated below +5°C. Protect the system from improper exposure, heat and mechanical loading.
German solar VAT eligibility
The store offers a 0% VAT variant for eligible solar installations. It applies only where section 12(3) UStG qualifies the actual transaction; assuming all private purchases are eligible would be incorrect.
Suitable applications
Storage for compatible home PV installations.
Store daytime PV energy for later loads.
Expand approved HVS modules and stacks.
Size storage to actual demand patterns.
Extra capacity where transfer is supported.
Only with an approved off-grid inverter.
Important ordering and compatibility notes
This listing supplies one HVS 2.56 module. The BCU, base, additional module and inverter are needed for operation and are not automatically included in this individual item.

Frequently asked questions
What capacities can a BYD HVS stack reach?
With two to five modules: 5.12 to 12.80 kWh. The four-module HVS 10.2 provides 10.24 kWh.
Is HVS 10.2 a 230 V power source?
No. It supplies high-voltage DC; compatible inverter and backup equipment are required.
Can I mix HVS and HVM modules?
No. HVS and HVM families are not interchangeable within one tower.
What is the peak current?
The datasheet specifies 50 A for up to 3 seconds, versus 25 A maximum regular current.
What must I check before extending a stack?
BCU, inverter, firmware, matching modules and balanced state of charge.
Can it be installed outdoors?
The assembled system is rated IP55; follow site requirements in the manual.
Does BYD support backup power?
Only with a compatible backup inverter and compliant isolation.
When can the 0% VAT rate apply?
Only where section 12(3) UStG applies to the specific PV supply.
