BYD BATTERY-BOX · HIGH-VOLTAGE STORAGE
BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 10.2 – 10.24 kWh High-Voltage Storage
The BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS 10.2 is a modular LiFePO4 high-voltage battery with 10.24 kWh usable DC energy. Four 2.56 kWh HVS modules form a 409.6 V stack weighing 167 kg and measuring 1,228 × 585 × 298 mm, rated IP55. A compatible BCU and approved inverter are required for operation and backup.
Key specifications
Overview and system configuration
The HVS 10.2 stores solar power for later use in homes and suitable commercial facilities. Four cobalt-free LFP modules use patented internal plug connections and require the correct battery controller. The usable DC energy figure is measured under manufacturer test conditions; delivered AC energy depends on inverter efficiency and system reserves.
Approved HVS stacks use two to five modules, providing 5.12–12.80 kWh. This version contains four modules. Where controller and inverter approvals allow, up to three compatible towers may be installed in parallel, with a theoretical maximum of 38.4 kWh.
IP55 and the manufacturer's indoor/outdoor system rating enable flexible installation subject to the manual. Backup supply is not provided by the battery tower alone: a suitable hybrid inverter and compliant grid isolation and protection are necessary.
Benefits and features
Thermally stable cells designed for long-term use.
Reduced internal wiring during tower assembly.
HVS towers with two to five compatible modules.
Via approved BCU and inverter interfaces.
Indoor or outdoor siting according to manual.
High DC voltage for appropriate hybrid inverters.
Shift solar generation for later use.
Backup only with matching equipment.
Technical highlights explained
HVS energy scales by module count
BYD HVS uses 2.56 kWh, 102.4 V modules. Two to five modules yield 5.12 / 7.68 / 10.24 / 12.80 kWh usable DC under manufacturer reference conditions.
BCU and generation compatibility
Every HVS stack needs the correct battery controller. Premium HVS modules are not identical to HVS+ or other families. Verify the current BCU generation and inverter compatibility list before expanding.
Continuous current and short peaks
BYD specifies 25 A maximum regular output and up to 50 A for 3 seconds. The older 5-second figure is not used. Actual power depends on stack voltage, BMS and inverter limits.
Solar, backup and off-grid use
HVS can support grid-connected, backup and off-grid projects when the selected inverter and protective architecture permit. The battery alone provides neither grid transfer nor a 230 V socket.
Installation conditions
BYD lists −10 to +50°C operation, IP55 and indoor/outdoor installation. Performance may be derated below +5°C. Protect the system from improper exposure, heat and mechanical loading.
German solar VAT eligibility
The store offers a 0% VAT variant for eligible solar installations. It applies only where section 12(3) UStG qualifies the actual transaction; assuming all private purchases are eligible would be incorrect.
Suitable applications
Storage for compatible home PV installations.
Store daytime PV energy for later loads.
Expand approved HVS modules and stacks.
Size storage to actual demand patterns.
Extra capacity where transfer is supported.
Only with an approved off-grid inverter.
Important ordering and compatibility notes
HVS 10.2 is a four-module system configuration. Confirm whether the compatible BCU, base, connecting equipment and inverter are included or separately required for the actual order.

Frequently asked questions
What capacities can a BYD HVS stack reach?
With two to five modules: 5.12 to 12.80 kWh. The four-module HVS 10.2 provides 10.24 kWh.
Is HVS 10.2 a 230 V power source?
No. It supplies high-voltage DC; compatible inverter and backup equipment are required.
Can I mix HVS and HVM modules?
No. HVS and HVM families are not interchangeable within one tower.
What is the peak current?
The datasheet specifies 50 A for up to 3 seconds, versus 25 A maximum regular current.
What must I check before extending a stack?
BCU, inverter, firmware, matching modules and balanced state of charge.
Can it be installed outdoors?
The assembled system is rated IP55; follow site requirements in the manual.
Does BYD support backup power?
Only with a compatible backup inverter and compliant isolation.
When can the 0% VAT rate apply?
Only where section 12(3) UStG applies to the specific PV supply.
