BMZ POWER2GO WORK – 2.5 kWh Portable Battery, 2.5 kW
The BMZ POWER2GO WORK is a robust portable 2,500 Wh battery power station for construction, trades and temporary work. It supplies 2,500 W continuous and 3,600 W maximum output through two 230 V Schuko sockets. It measures 531 × 233 × 467 mm, weighs about 25 kg and is rated IP65 with all covers closed.
Key product specifications
Description and practical use
BMZ designed the POWER2GO WORK as a battery-based source of electricity without local engine exhaust. The lithium-ion battery stores 2.5 kWh nominally. Compatible tools, work lights, instruments and chargers can use its two Schuko outputs as long as running and starting demand fit the rated limits.
BMZ lists an AC input of 100–250 V, 50/60 Hz and 1,000 W charging power. A dedicated MC4 solar connection supports compatible panels with an MPPT input of 30–60 V DC and 8.5 A maximum, with solar panels below 500 W.
The aluminium construction has a protective frame and carry handle. BMZ lists LED status indicators for the WORK model; the LCD belongs to the different LIFE version. The earlier SEV listing describes safeguards against overload, short circuits and battery operating limits.
Benefits and features
For compatible professional 230 V loads.
Short-term output rating, not continuous.
Supply compatible work equipment directly.
Temporary energy without a running combustion engine.
Robust construction for trades, service and mobility.
1,000 W mains charging and MPPT for compatible panels.
IP rating requires closed protective covers.
Carry handle and compact dimensions.
Technical highlights in detail
Continuous versus peak output
The unit supplies 2,500 W rated running power. BMZ quotes 3,600 W maximum. Compressors, pumps and power tools can demand higher starting currents; the 3,600 W figure is not a continuous rating.
AC input and solar MPPT
BMZ quotes 1,000 W AC charging and 100–250 V input. Solar MPPT is 30–60 V DC at 8.5 A max, for compatible panels below 500 W. The previous 2.5-hour statement is only a theoretical lower bound at full charging power, not a guaranteed full-charge time.
Two outlets and total-load limits
Two Schuko outlets support multiple compatible 230 V loads, subject to the combined inverter rating. This is a portable electricity source; backfeeding a building through a wall socket is unsafe and prohibited.
What IP65 actually means
BMZ explicitly states IP65 applies with every cover closed. When using connected equipment, open ports and attached plugs may change overall protection. Do not immerse the power station.
Temperature and battery safety
The current BMZ specification gives 0 to +45°C for charging and −10 to +60°C for operation, differing from older SEV figures. Short-circuit, overload, temperature and voltage safeguards are part of the described battery protection scheme.
Rent or buy
For temporary construction jobs and events, a separately listed BMZ POWER2GO rental unit may be an alternative to buying. Confirm availability and supplied charging accessories before use.
Suitable applications
Temporary power for compatible tools and lighting.
Power for mobile repairs and testing equipment.
No local engine emissions for smaller installations.
Support suitable individual loads during outages.
Power for suitable remote agricultural tasks.
Portable 230 V power without a running petrol engine.
Important before ordering
The IP65 rating requires closed outlet covers. Continuous and peak power differ. Solar charging requires correct input voltage and polarity.

Frequently asked questions
What is the rated output?
2,500 W continuous and up to 3,600 W maximum under suitable conditions.
How long does one charge last?
2.5 kWh nominal could theoretically support 500 W for five hours, with actual runtime reduced by losses and reserves.
How many outlets are fitted?
Two 230 V Schuko outputs with 2,500 W combined continuous rating.
Can I charge from solar?
Yes, MC4 MPPT input at 30–60 V DC, 8.5 A maximum with a suitable panel below 500 W.
Is IP65 maintained with open sockets?
No. BMZ explicitly specifies IP65 with all protective covers closed.
Is a full charge guaranteed in 2.5 hours?
No. Charging time depends on temperature, initial charge and charging profile.
May I backfeed a home through a socket?
No. Building backup requires professional isolation and protection.
Is a rental version available?
Yes, the store has a separate POWER2GO rental listing; check availability.
